"What Is A Coach?"
By definition a coach is one who instructs players in the fundamentals of a sport and directs team strategy. For most of us who have played at the collegiate level, we’ve had good ones and bad ones. No two are the same and every coach has their own individual style. Some are motivators, some disciplinarians, some have no business coaching at all. Some do it for the money. Some do it for the fame and notoriety. Some do it for the love of the game. A few do it to make a difference in the lives of the kids they coach. Unfortunately, the latter is a dying breed.
"Experience Is The Best Teacher..."
My experience as a student-athlete has been one to the greatest experiences of my life! Playing collegiate basketball has impacted my life tremendously and I wouldn’t trade those four years at LSU for anything. But, a lot is expected of student athletes. We were expected to deal with not only the physical stressors of competitive athletics, but also the mental and emotional stressors as well. As you all know, there are the academic requirements that must be met, and of course the responsibilities that go along with being on an athletic scholarship.
